Barca-Leeds 17th annual Playday event brings together families for free, fun community get-together

Over 300 children and young people attended the Barca-Leeds National Playday event on 7 August 2024.

National Playday is celebrated in August each year and provides an opportunity to celebrate fun and all things play. This is Barca’s 17th Playday event, with our first one taking place back in 2008.

Based at Hunters Greave Scout Camp, the event brought families from across West Leeds to explore, play and enjoy the sunshine together. A variety of free, accessible activities were available including inflatables, archery, rug tufting and arts and crafts.

The event was organised by Barca’s Children and Young People’s team with support from the local community and local Councillors. On the day, our team was joined by our young leaders who volunteered to help organise and deliver the event.

We were joined by a range of community partners on the day, each bringing along information, advice and signposting. Thank you to LS-TEN, Foward Leeds Young People’s Team, Bramley Baths, Better Together, Yorkshire Water, Leeds Libraries, DAZL Dance, Leeds Youth Service, Leeds Mind, Bramley Cluster, Horsforth Climate Action and Groundwork, for helping to make the event such a success.

“My two had a great time today. Thank you to everyone involved!” - Parent
