Who is the service for?

Referral Criteria

Referrals from City of Leeds Academy school only.

This service provides mentoring and support interventions exclusively for young people attending Leeds City Academy. Working in close partnership with the teaching staff, and other local stakeholders, it will support young people to address and reduce the risk factors in their lives enabling them to lead healthier happier lives.

The team will provide these four main areas of work, delivered from the school premises, in the local community or in the homes of the young people and their family:

  1. One to one mentoring and support for young people
  2. Support for the wider family
  3. Advocacy with schools and other professionals
  4. Groupwork in a school or community setting

The service will build trusting relationships with young people and between young people, the school, families and with other professionals.

When you (Barca Youth Workers) first met me I was angry all the time. I was an angry person, but that isn’t me anymore, you helped me so much. I feel so much happier now and I have learnt a lot.
