The Nxt Steps service worked with 358 young people, who were at risk of or already Not in Education Employment or Training (NEET) to develop life skills, work readiness, get involved in social activity, and move back towards education, employment and training.
The programme ran between October 2023 and March 2025 and delivered:
I'm glad I came to this group because it helped me face my social anxiety and I feel a lot clearer about my next steps to becoming a carer.
- Young person
Our team engaged, inspired and motivated young people to raise aspirations and take positive steps to work and learning by identifying underlying needs and barriers. We worked with young people to develop skills, confidence, resilience and ways of managing their wellbeing and aspirations.
It was really valuable to be involved with LS14 Trust, we supported them from the beginning of their programme through giving guest talks, helping with referrals to the employment and skills hub, and supporting trips to job fairs and apprenticeship fairs. It was great to work in partnership with the youth workers to allow us to reach more young people, especially those harder to reach ones.
