Our service aims to provide support around:
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the impact on young people has been unprecedented. Here at Barca-Leeds, we have adapted our approach and services to ensure all the young people we help receive safe and comprehensive support.
During Spring 2021, we provided a number of services in lockdown, helping children, young people and families across West Leeds feel supported in such unprecedented times. With schools operating home lessons and the lockdown being the third in less than a year, the impact of our work was felt throughout our community.
We ran 7 weeks of online competitions, covering fun contests such as 'Take a Photo', 'Bake Off', 'Tik Tok', 'Fantasy Villain' and more. Running our competitions online enabled us to engage young people safely, reaching them at home during lockdown. As well as our competitions, we marked World Book Day and Pancake Day, allowing young people to feel a part of both occasions.
Face to face activity has been minimal but in line with National Youth Agency guidelines, we carried out safe socially distanced street outreach sessions. These sessions were important to support young people who do not engage well with online activities.
The challenge of supporting young people in Lockdown was difficult but thanks to our incredible staff, funders and partners we helped support over 175 children, young people and families, during Spring 2021.
